Most of Chile is serviced by Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE), the state railroad company. The trains are clean, modern, have onboard dining, and even vehicle transport service. The service runs on a schedule, with guaranteed on-time service for some of the routes.
Rail service is a great method for reaching some of the resorts to the south of Santiago. The journey offers tremendous views of some of Chile’s best-known natural attractions. Most ski resorts offer shuttle service at rail stations as they do at area airports.
