Termas de Chillán is a gigantic ski resort situated on the Chillán volcano, at a distance of about 315 miles south of Santiago. It’s home to the longest run in South America, Las Tres Marías, stretching over 8 miles. The resort sits on over 24,700 acres, making it the largest ski resort in South America.

Serviced by nine lifts ascending from the base, at 5,400 feet to a ceiling of over 8,850 feet, Termas de Chillán offers 29 pistes for all levels of experience. There is a gorgeous forest where you can get lost in nature, and admire the beauty if the volcano above.

At the base you will find a rental shop, pub, restaurants, a well stocked ski shop, and the adult and children’s schools, which are first class. For snowboarders there’s a snowboard park and a half pipe, as well as seemingly endless off-piste terrain. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, he resort offers a wide variety of alternative snow sports, such as snowmobiling, heliski, nordic ski, and more. The resort has a five star luxury hotel and spa, with thermal mineral water baths, pools, and other therapeutic facilities that remain open year-round. There are also numerous gorgeous natural attractions in the area.

Within this luxurious resort, there is a five star and a three star hotel. Some condos and cabins are located at at the base of the slope. You can also find lodging in nearby Las Trancas and Chillán at lower prices.

Getting There

By Air: Fly into Concepcion and take the shuttle (reservations required). You can also fly into Chillán, but airline schedule is limited.
By Train: Rail service into Chillan is one of the best options. Shuttle service to the resort is available from the rail station.
